CARITAS – Congregations Around Richmond Involved to Assure Shelter is a Catholic-based relief service coordinating with local and national churches and organizations. First U.U. Richmond participates by providing shelter services for homeless for one week each year.

CVFB – Central Virginia FoodBank procures and distributes food to agencies providing services for poor and disadvantaged individuals and families in our community.

Continental Unitarian Universalist Young Adult Network. Fostering community and spirituality among Unitarian Universalists ages 18-35.

ICGR – Interfaith Council of Greater Richmond. Builds communication and understanding among faith and interfaith organizations in Metropolitan Richmond.

Leaders Library – a UU newsletter for lay leaders.

MICAH Initiative – City-wide effort to help children improve their reading skills. First U.U. Richmond is involved through the Green School Project.

OWL – Our Whole Lives is a U.U. sex education program for 8th and 9th grade students.

RE – Religious Education, which refers to the K-12 and adult religious education programs and curricula at First U.U.

RE Committee – The Religious Education Council oversees and implements all aspects of RE at our church.

SRC – The Social Responsibility Council is an umbrella group that reflects the social consciousness of First U.U. and provides both education and social action.

SUUSI – The Southeast Unitarian Universalist Summer Institute is a week-long festival of recreation, fellowship and educational programs held annually in Virginia.

SWIM –The Southeast Winter Institute of Miami is a week-long gathering similar to SUUSI but held in the winter.

Southern Region – The SouthEast District is one of the Unitarian Universalist districts in the U.S.  and includes part or all of the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

UUA – Unitarian Universalist Association,  headquartered in Boston, Mass.

Unitarian Universalists for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. The UUADP gives witness to the moral position of the Unitarian Universalist faith community.

UUA Bookstore – This bookstore is the publishing arm of the UUA.

UUA General Assembly – The Unitarian Universalist General Assembly is an annual meeting held for one week in a selected city. Delegates appointed by individual churches.

UUSC – The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee advances human rights and social justice throughout the U.S. and the world.

UU Womenspirit. Two annual retreats for UU women at The Mountain in North Carolina.

UU World – The official magazine of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Virginians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. A statewide citizens’ organization dedicated to educating the public about alternatives to the death penalty.
